Have You Been Lame?

Galatians 6:5 says "For each will have to bear his own load."

Simply put, this translates to personal responsibility.  We are ALL responsible for ourselves, our actions, our emotions.   Unfortunately, many of us continue to struggle with this.

Too often we tell ourselves it's not our fault.  We blame the politicians, the government, the spouse, the job, or my personal favorite...COVID!

Pastor Rick Warren says blame is to "B-Lame."

He's dead on.  We really do sound lame when we constantly put the blame on everything and everyone but ourselves.

I get it.  I've gone down ALL these roads to nowhere -- I own the 'B-Lame' t-shirt.  


What I've learned along the way is you get ZERO results if you choose to stay stuck in this rut.

Here is one personal example of me being lame (blaming).

During the recession I got myself into big debt with one of my credit cards.  I contacted a debt relief service who told me to not pay and they would settle my debt for pennies on the dollar.  "It wasn't my fault" they told me "the credit card companies were evil and trapped you" and I drank the kool-aid.

After one month this didn't sit right with me. I realized I had gotten myself into the debt so it was up to me to get out.  I fired the debt relief company and worked it out with my credit card company.   In a few years I got all my debt paid off.

I'm glad I did it that way because I truly believe I would still be in debt today had I not taken responsibility for my actions and kept 'being lame' with the credit card companies.

I hear blaming all the time when it comes to getting in shape.

"My work is so busy I never have time."

"I have to eat the crap my family eats."

"I've tried everything...nothing works."

"It's my bad genetics"

Blah..blah..blah...blah...

I've been in the fitness industry for over 26 years and what I've learned is that until you decide to ditch the blaming excuses and finally 'bear your own load'... you will never see the results you want.
