How to Smash a Plateau

Do you know the #1 way to smash a plateau?

The answer is really simple....GET OUT OF YOUR OWN WAY.

Having sat through hundreds of consultations with people who have hit plateaus, it has become very clear...

Most of the time the problem is not the plateau - it's you.

As the scripture states, we can be corrupted by our own deceitful desires. We deceive ourselves into thinking that our old habits are working...when really they are not.  It's true, insanity is bred by doing the same thing over and over yet expecting a different result.

Does this story sound familiar?  I once had a client who had hit a weight loss plateau.  She consistently did Weight Watchers along with tons of cardio which got her results up to a point.  Ultimately her goal was to lose more weight, but she stalled.  Her cycle of losing and gaining weight continued to happen for several years.

When I reviewed the plan she had created for herself, I could see several flaws.

  • She wasn't building or even preserving the precious lean muscle she needed to keep burning fat.
  • Her food choices on the Weight Watchers program were spiking her blood sugar which in turn kept her hormones programmed to store fat.
  • Her body quickly adapted to her regimen and there was no fresh new stimulus to trigger change.

It took a lot of convincing but she decided to get out of her own way and trust me with my plan for her.

Boy was she glad she did! She smoked her weight loss goal!  She ended up looking more toned and fit then she had in years.
