How do you think of yourself ?
If we talked to other people like we talked to ourselves in our thoughts we would get slapped.
Too often we create a story in our hearts that becomes the truth we believe. We end up with our own "self fulfilling prophecy" by telling ourselves crap like...
I'm too out of shape or I'm too old or I'm a loser or I'm too busy... blah blah blah.
Our brains don't know the difference between reality and the story in our hearts. The truth is, if you think you can't then you won't. If you think you can, then you will.
One of the greatest things about my business is helping people break through and realize their God given potential.
Many times my clients aren't thinking of themselves highly enough. This limits their ability to achieve their goals.
For example, a long time client comes to mind. She came back to me after not training with me for almost 10 years. She was struggling with her weight but it was apparent after we talked that her negative self image was what was really holding her back.
As we started training and rebuilding her mind - as well as her body - she started to realize she was pretty damn strong and could do a lot more than she initially thought.
She decided that she was going to be on our strength honor roll boards for deadlift, squat, and bench press.
As we started to move towards those goals the whole COVID pandemic hit.
This was actually a good thing because it tested her mindset. Would she quit? Or would she stay focused on her goals? She stayed strong. She continued to tell herself she was strong and continued to work out despite the obstacle of COVID.
And low and behold, she made the boards!
It was cool to see her hit those goals! But what was even cooler was seeing the mental shift that had occured.
She had gained moxie and confidence - something she didn't have when she first came in.
Win the battle in your mind and you win the battle in your body. This is where the TRUE transformation occurs.
This is a BIG reason I love fitness because it is a catalyst to bring out the BEST in people. In mind, body and spirit.
