A recent survey stated the average gym goer spends 11.7 hours per week on their health and fitness regimen.That's a lot of time to invest in something. With that much time invested, you would hope to bear some "good fruit" in the form of results. Unfortunately many of us gym goers get into the rut of doing the same thing over and over again (AND, I might add... not just the same thing, but the WRONG thing as well) which never leads to the results you're looking for. For example, I am currently working with a client who is having chronic back issues. She came to me frustrated because despite all the time she was spending on stretching and mobility work, she was still having major back issues. We did a thorough movement screen and discovered that her issues were around a lack of stability NOT mobility and flexibility. In fact, by adding more flexibility and mobility to an already unstable body, she was exasperating the problem. She was focusing on the WRONG thing over and over and it wasn't getting her the right results. This is just one example of how we can become "robotic" by not taking the time to evaluate if what we are doing is working or not. Does this sound familiar?
