Today, I'm going on a bit of a rant.  

I've been experiencing some of my biggest pet peeves lately...the one where a person is constantly complaining, but chooses to do NOTHING about it.  Or better yet, they use weak language, especially the word "try."  

Let's face it. When someone says they will "try" to show up at your party, do they actually show up?  NO.

Growing up with Star Wars, one of my favorite quotes was from the wise Yoda.  He said "Do or do not, there is NO try."

He is right.

In fact, Proverbs 13:4 says, "The soul of the sluggard (lazy person) craves and gets nothing, while the soul of the diligent (hard worker/doer) is richly supplied."

Many people say they want something but never actually take action to get it.  And then the complaining starts when they start to feel the results of their inaction.

Case in point... I was at a family party and my cousins were talking about "trying" to lose weight.  (Mind you, maybe I'm not the best one to have this conversation with if you're just "trying," but oh well....)

When asked about what she was doing, it turned out her "trying" was sporadic aqua jogging in the pool.  Seriously?

She also wasn't shy about all the wine she was drinking... and it showed.  

The reality is she really wasn't trying and especially wasn't doing what needed to be done to lose the weight.

"Do or do not...there is no try." Here is where I unleash my inner Yoda and go into my old football coach mode.

Decide what is more important.

Is it wine, junk food and treats or is losing weight?

What's more important?

If it's the wine and treats, fine... but do not complain about being overweight.  Choose to be happy with where you are and stop the complaining.  No one wants to hear it - especially me at a party.

However, if it's losing weight then let's get real about it.  Stop the "trying" and let's take action.

I'll admit doing is hard work. But remember...the diligent (hard working) will be richly supplied... in this case with results.  Results that have you looking and feeling better than you ever have.  Results that take you from the 'trying and complaining' mode to the 'look what I've done and I feel fantastic" mode.

It's not just about working hard. It's about working smart.
